Сведений об истории медицинских учреждений Тюмени, которая раньше относилась к Тобольской губернии, сохранилось немного. Известно, что в 1741 году в городе находился госпиталь, в котором числилось 3 служителя. Госпиталь располагался при монастыре. В первой половине XIX века (1845 год) в городе функционировала уже одна больница. По медицинскому ведомству служило 5 чиновников (врачей) и 7 нижних служителей (санитаров). В 1859 году была открыта городская больница, по мнению современников — лучшая в Западной Сибири, располагающая шестью больничными палатами, лабораторией, аптекой, анатомическим театром... вся история
